santa sketches

This is a simple layout sketch I did of santa the top one being a form of him looking like a badass, in which I could use for a composition of him killing zombies for example. The bottom one is in a different perspective showing an interesting style in which I could use space around him.

This image I'm not to happy with as I planned it out to be in 3 styles, the first being a sketch style, and the next being a wireframe, with the final being coloured. This is an idea to create a scene showing the progressing of creating a piece of art all in one composition.

Christmas Mood Board

A collection of images I found all to do with the spirit of the christmas festivities; the top picture is a clam cartoon image of a snowy christmas scene that made me feel warm inside =). The next cartoon of santa reminds me of the christmas cards you receive, the bottom one is an advertisement from a famous actor, the image on the right is used in the coke advert which both these images make me feel a bit more excited about the christmas season.

These images are more alternative images of the santa scene; top one and left are images of santa being portrayed as the badass war type which is slightly inspiring to help me with my christmas design. As well as the image on the right which links in with the other two. The bottom image is a funny image of a stormtrooper celebrating christmas wearing a symbolic hat. All these images are cartoonish if not more game related as of the alternatives realities of the santa tradition.

Gun Turn Table

Using a combination of after effects and 3DS Max I created this 3D model of a turn table. All experimental.

Plane Crash - Brooklyn, SE New York

The first stages of the painting in which I picked out the basic shapes and tones and drew upon perspective lines to get the general size and shape for objects to be formed.

These are the plans for the plane impact and where it explodes, it also plans where the parts will land. This shows where simple lighting will be to help me to create light sources.

Greyscale of the piece.

Night time shot.

Day time shot.

Technical Tank

Again using perspective guild lines as the bases of the exercise I produced a tank from a concept image of blueprints and created a 3D drawing of it. I used a fine liner to strengthen the lines and a Pro marker pen as well the highlight the shadows.

Perspective Sketches 2

This is a tank I drew in perspective, all the detail is not added as the exercies was just to show perspective of a tank.

This is another attempt and the box character but in this sketch the horizon line is around the knee area.

Halloweeeeeeeeeeen

This was the first basic drawing starting with the basic silhouette.

This is adding the first bits of lighting picking out all the shapes and forms of the creature.

This shot shows a close up of extra detail being added.

The final piece, I based my design around a scarecrow/skeletal creature, partially wooden, partially cloth. I looked into how rags would be ripped and would form around a scarecrow. The design here could be generally focused on either an overcast day or a brightly moonlit night. This combination gives the overall lighting you get around Autumn time in october. I left the design in black and white because I believe its helps to show a more creepy atmosphere.

Perspective practise

This was a speed painting I did, whilst looking into perspective I used this to look at how lines and objects are effected by perspective. This is also adding into the Halloween theme using a creepy castle as the source of inspiration. I looked briefly into forms of texturing such as old churches to help with lighting and making the castle look bumpy.

Trick Or Treat?

This is a simple idea of a 'trick or treat' for my Halloween assignment involving a famous figure known as 'Jason'. The idea here is to have the obviously dressed up person disguised as a trick or treater, this allows me to play around with the viewers thoughts and what they see more freely. It is focused that the person looks more into the tradition of Hallow's Eve rather than dictating on scary monsters and villains. The other idea is similar but alternative; I am to use a monster dressed up in a Halloween costume rather than having the 'monster' look scary, it is to look as its becoming part of the festivity rather than being a stereotypical monster.

Zombie Inspired Design (Halloween Concept)

This is a zombie horde that I designed based on a concept of a zombie story, this idea links with the Halloween based fear.

Halloween!!! Mood Boards

This is a simple mood board of images that had me inspired for the halloween project, it is a collection of scary and iconic images that all point in the direction of the festival spirit. This weeks brief states a halloween styled piece with a wide rang of outcomes possible. I have not only thought about the fear behind halloween but also the costume side. This has inspired my ideas to head towards an imagery of festivity included instead/aswell as just a fear factor.

This is a few concept artworks I have found that have fairly inspired me because of the effects used in lighting and perspective. I will look into this type of artwork for future inspiration when trying to create lighting on a character.
